2023 the European Year of Skills

European Commission declared 2023 the European Year of Skills. European institutions will encourage a much stronger focus on opportunities and initiatives related to upskilling, life long learning and digital skills for all to boost Europe’s competitiveness. These efforts will aim to contribute towards achieving the Digital Decade targets – 80% of Europeans with basic digital skills and 20 million information and communications technology (ICT) specialists by 2030.  

One of the biggest events focusing on skills will take place for the first time in Poland is EuroSkills – the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in Europe. Held every two years and organised by WorldSkills Europe together with 32 Member Countries, EuroSkills brings together hundreds of young professionals from countries across Europe to compete for the chance to become the Best in Europe in their chosen skill. EuroSkills Gdańsk 2023 will welcome 600 skilled young professionals under the age of 25 from 32 countries to participate in competitions and demonstrations in 43 different skills and trades. Around 100,000 visitors from across Poland and abroad are expected to attend.
