Bachanalia

Every year starting in May and continuing for about a week, our students celebrate their annual festival colloquially called ‘Bachanalia’. The opening day is very significant as students formally receive a key to the city from the president of Zielona Gora. This means that for three days the city is symbolically ‘given to’ University students.

First day of the celebration is also famous for its colourful parade, where students get crazy with their vivid imagination and dress- up as characters form e.g. ancient Rome, jungle, or Disney! In these days the programme of the celebration is fulfilled with various cultural activities, mainly entertainment and sport events, but also commonly known ‘chill-out’ in the form of a barbecue, where thousands of students gather together and enjoy their free- time. Festival of Science in June

The festival is introduced in the form of a scientific picnic in the promenade of Zielona Gora. The academic staff and students of particular faculties present the most interesting projects, which have been developed throughout the year in university’s laboratories or classrooms. The main purpose of this Festival is to present the practical aspects of scientific and technical works which can be applied to everyday basis.

Francophone Days

A festival celebrating the French language and culture. Usually is it organized in March. The program of this festival includes evenings  spend in a nice atmosphere accompanied with French songs and lyrics, competitions of various kinds and exhibition.

 

 

Green town of Jazz

Green Town of Jazz  is usually held in November. It is an excellent Musical Event organized by Institute of Music, which not only organizes ‘Green Town of Jazz’ but many other events and musical workshops throughout the whole year. Special guests and famous musicians accompany our local Universities bands in the evening concerts.
